REVresenting at the Blood Drive
1/29/10
The challenge was presented, a statement was made. The REVolution players and coaches showed up to Columbia College on January 29th, with their usual swagger. There should be nobody who beats us on the field, and their should be nobody who beats us off the field. That attitude was spread throughout the organization, as not only were there coaches and players who came and donated, but fans of our football team did as well.
With a limited amount of time for donation (10:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m), and also during a work day on Friday, the REV exceeded expectations by finishing with 16 total liters of blood donated. Between the other 3 teams (Cache Valley Bears, Utah Valley Desparados, Rocky Mountain Hawks), the top team between them all came in with 5 total liters of blood.
Overall the Super bowl Blood Drive was a great success for Columbia College and the REVolution organization. All of our coaches came to represent and give blood, while our players and fans came out to REVresent as well. The Wasatch REVolution look forward to a great working relationship with Columbia College in the future, and a great 2010 season.

Mark Whetman, was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig’s disease on May 5, 2008 at the age of 48. There is no cure for this disease. Currently, he is unable to speak, must write to communicate, has a feeding tube, his neck muscles are weakened and his hands are now being affected. He is still able to walk and can still drive, but will soon lose his motor functions and abilities.
The Wasatch REVolution have volunteered to help Mark Whetman fulfil a dream. After spending nearly a week in the hospital from his third case of Pneumonia (common with ALS patients) since being diagnosed, a wonderful surprise was given to Mark.
On Thursday, January 28, the Whetman family were notified that Ford Racing for NASCAR was providing tickets to our family to attend the Daytona 500 race on February 14 to fulfill Mark’s dream. He was so grateful for this gift, he could barely contain his emotions. The Daytona 500 people said, "if you can get Mark here, we will give him the royal treatment". Raceway tickets along with special credentials will allow Mark and his 4 sons to enter the garage where all of the cars are being worked on, as well with pit access to see where it all goes down. Ford has arranged for him to meet and greet with a few of their drivers. Due to the short timeframe before the race, airline tickets are extremely expensive , along with hotel and rental car. His family is dedicated to getting Mark to this race and knows that there are others who would also like to help make this dream come true.
To help the Whetman family attend the 2010 Daytona 500, donation accounts have been set up at the following:
